Microblading is a manual technique for permanent makeup that can provide a realistic look when filling in sparse brows or creating them from scratch. It has become one of the top beauty procedures because it creates clear and pure lines on the face, enhancing its natural beauty.
There are many types of micro blades on the market, in different shapes, and for different purposes. The choice will depend on the artist's style, technique, and preference.
Since it is a delicate process, microblading not only requires a professional hand to apply it but also specific tools to make art, just like a painter needs a paintbrush. The necessary tools for perfect micro blading results can be divided into 3 categories.
Microblading Blades and Needles
Any microblading tool is the quintessence of the practitioner, and the brow embroidery method would not exist without these gorgeous instruments. Most importantly the blades and needles are sterile single-use products. Another important feature for best results is that the blade and needle are very sharp, allowing for thin, natural strokes. Needles and blades require the use of manual tool holders, which are the basis of microblading.
Any professional will have different clients with different skin types, and it is necessary for an artist to have a variety of needles and blades so that the configuration works for each situation.
Along with the blades and needles, pigments are the soul of micro blading, as they are responsible for bringing brows to life. While the blades simply open the way to the cuticle, the pigment stays there, creating the illusion of thicker brows. Colors range from white to black, giving artists room to tailor colors to each individual's needs.
Design and Precision Tools
One of the most attractive looks that microblading can provide is an elegant, clean, and symmetrical result. Artists can use Microblading Tools to aid in their creations, such as sticky rulers and measuring rulers for designing, drawing pencils to define the shape of brows, shaping correction sticks and salt cream to fix any mistakes that may have occurred along the way, and more.
First, it should be said that blades are always disposable and must be discarded after each treatment. There are no cleaners or sterilizers that can reliably sterilize the microneedles so that they can be used again with confidence. For other tools such as knife handles (pens), you have the choice of whether to clean, sanitize and reuse them, or use pre-sterilized single-use items.
Cost plays a big role in deciding whether to keep or discard your tools, however, if you choose to reuse them, you must be absolutely confident that you will be able to remove 100% of potentially harmful pathogens hiding in your tools so they are safe to use again.
If you do choose to clean and sanitize your own tools, you'll need a professional vacuum autoclave and ultrasonic bath. Pressure-only, sterilizers are not suitable for use with microblading pens as they can only sterilize solid, unwrapped metal implements.
Microblading tools have cavities that can hold microorganisms, so to ensure they are properly sterilized, they need to be processed in more expensive vacuum-type machines. These machines will sterilize solid and hollow utensils, wrapped or unwrapped. They will also automate the sanitization process and provide a printout or electronic log of the process for you to document.
Throwing away tools may seem wasteful, but you'll need to do a lot to dispose of them to justify the cost of properly and conveniently using the equipment you need again safely. You also need to keep records and make sure your autoclave is maintained. Your licensing agency inspector will check that you maintain accurate records and that you have a machine maintenance plan in place. Make sure you follow the machine manufacturer's instructions to select the appropriate sterilization program for the item you are handling.
