This is a question we get asked a lot and one of the hardest to answer because there are so many factors to consider in choosing the right machine for you.
But don't worry, we've put together 5 steps to help you make an informed decision.
The following 5 steps need to be followed when selecting a
PMU machine.
1. Check the Warranty Offered - While you may never need to use it, if you do, you want to make sure you buy a machine with at least a 1-year warranty. Check out the warranty terms and conditions to make sure you're covered for any manufacturing faults. Most machines will come with a repair warranty, not a replacement warranty, so be aware that if something breaks, you'll need to send it in for repair. So having a spare machine is very important!
2. Check Compatibility with Generic Syringes - there are many machines that do not use safety-filmed syringes and are not TGA approved. Making sure you choose a machine that features universal cartridges will not only be safer for your customers and produce better results, but it will also give you access to a wide range of different makes and ranges from reputed manufacturers.
3. Do You Prefer Wireless or Wired or Both - There are pros and cons to both wireless and wired machines. Some artists prefer a cordless machine because it allows them to easily move around the program area, while others prefer a corded machine because they don't need to worry about the battery dying in the middle of a program. Luckily, there is now a range of cordless machines available that also allow you to connect cords and power if needed.
4. What Kind of Service Do You Provide? - Make sure to choose a machine with specifications designed to enhance the services you offer ie. Stroke length, e-give, voltage, etc.
5. Read Other Artist Reviews - See what other artists are using and recommending. Look at artists offering the same services as yours and see what works for them.
Now that you've gone through the steps, all you need to do is make one of the toughest decisions of all. Which color should you get?
But seriously, choosing a machine is a very personal decision. Make sure you do your research and find a machine with a good warranty and easy access to customer service, one that offers the features you think are important, and read reviews from other artists.
If you have completed the above checklist and are still not confident in your machine of choice, please feel free to
