How to Sterilize Your Microblade Tools?

time2022/06/01

Microblade tools come in close contact with skin and, for some, blood. So its cleaning and disinfection are particularly important. It is recommended that you take the following steps to ensure that your tools and workshop are hygienic and safe for your clients.

Let's talk about the part you have to face as a microblade artist: sterilizing our microblade tools. Unless you can already afford to hire an experienced assistant right away, you must learn how to clean and disinfect your equipment.

Although disposable needles are mostly used these days and disposed of properly, you still need to clean and sterilize the microblade pens and other tools you use during surgery. These tools come in close contact with skin and, for some, blood. If your equipment is not properly sterilized, you and your customers can become infected with blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B, HIV, and similar diseases.

Without further ado, I recommend the following steps to ensure your tools and workshop are hygienic and safe for your clients.

Essential products to keep tools clean

Here is a quick list of products we recommend for use in your Microblade Studio. You can get the same brand or your favorite brand as long as they are premium or medical grade.

Disposable adult bibs (also known as dental bibs). This versatile bib is a must-have for your studio. You can use it to cover and protect your face chair and change it every time you have a different client.

Old tool tray. You can easily grab this tray to keep everything you need to sanitize together at the end of the day.

Disposable antimicrobial gloves. Keep hands clean when working for clients or sanitizing microblade tools.

Disinfection tray. If you don't have a UV disinfection tray, that's fine too. You can soak your tools in a sterilization tray with no problem (more on that later).

Sterilization tray for cleaning tools. Be sure to store freshly sterilized tools in clean, sterilized trays.

Cleaning brushes. This can be one of your makeup brushes because their bristles are soft and non-fraying.

Disinfectants. Use it to soak tools.

Acetone. When you need to clean stubborn dirt like glue or ink.

Spray with ninefold cleaner and disinfectant. You can use it to wipe down surfaces and trays in your studio, including chairs.

Alcohol. This should be at least 70% to 90% alcohol.

How to sterilize your microblading tools and trays

1. It is recommended to place a new adult bib on your chair, pillow, and tool tray every time you have a different client to avoid any kind of contamination.

2. After the last customer of the day leaves, take the used tool tray to wherever you put the sanitizer tray.

3. Fill your disinfection tray with a high-level disinfectant. Put enough disinfectant to cover your tool.

4. Fill a sink or bowl with warm water and dishwashing liquid. Wash your tools and brush them first.

5. Immerse your microblade tool in the sterile tray filled with the solution.

6. Let them soak for about 20 minutes. If you use other sanitizing solutions, follow the manufacturer's instructions that came with the product.

7. After soaking, rinse with warm water.

8. Let them dry in a clean towel. Once dry, store them in clean, sterile trays.

9. While your tools are soaking, you can start cleaning your work area. Disinfectants can be sprayed on chairs, tables, trays, and other surfaces.

10. After spraying, you can use medical-grade towels and wipes, and you can also use the wait time to vacuum mop, or schedule tools for the next day.

Doing all the cleaning and sanitizing will not only make your tools and studio hygienic. Taking these steps will avoid having to face bigger problems in the future if clients complain about the cleanliness of your studio and the tools you use. More importantly, you will be assured that your customers are safe in your hands. If you need a new microblade tool, please contact us.
